The Hydrant Programme has supported this operation via our peer review and peer support offer, and today’s progress is testament to the dedicated and relentless commitment of Deputy SIO, Detective Inspector Eleanor Humphreys and her team.

DI Humphreys said: “Having the opportunity to speak to the Hydrant Programme has been invaluable. This has been a long-running and complex investigation which will continue at pace . My whole team are determined to hold offenders to account and show victims and survivors of these most appalling crimes that we will listen, act and support.

“Since an initial peer support session we have continued to benefit from the guidance Hydrant provides, and the learning they share as part of the CSE Taskforce. We have worked tirelessly on this case and although today’s outcome won’t take away the trauma victims have endured, I hope that seeing the criminal justice process progress helps. No matter how much time has passed, we will always seek justice.

“If you are reading this as an investigator or police staff member and you work in child protection and abuse investigation I can’t recommend the support Hydrant provides enough, you will certainly benefit from the peer support and peer review sessions they offer.”

Hydrant Programme's Director Richard Fewkess said “It was a privilege to support DI Humphreys, and see the commitment and passion her officers apply to their work. Peer support sessions have led to the team making contacts with other forces and support agencies contributing to this investigation progressing.

“Today the focus should rightly be on the victims and survivors who have come forward to speak about their experience. This has resulted in the arrest of seven men who committed sickening crimes against a vulnerable child. Hydrant is here to support forces who are progressing similar investigations.”
