Technical information about this website’s accessibility

Hydrant is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

The website has been tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

  • Many PDFs are not accessible to screen readers due to the following failures: missing or inaccurate alt text (WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.1.1, non-text content), missing tagging (WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.3.1, info and relationships), and missing titles (WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.4.2 - page titled).
  • A Word document includes an inline image which is also missing alt-text, this fails WCAG 2.2 success criteria 1.1.1 (non-text content) and 1.3.2 (meaningful sequence).
  • The home page features a video that does not have an audio description or alternative such as a transcript, this fails WCAG 2.2 success criteria 1.3.2 (audio description or media alternative) amd 1.2.5 (audio description pre-recorded).
  • The Operation Makesafe page includes text that does not have sufficient contrast with its background, this fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.4.3 (contrast).
  • News thumbnail images, and one image on CSE Taskforce, include text that is not included in the description, this fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.4.5 (images of text).

We plan to address these issues by:

  • Reviewing PDFs for accessibility and updating where required
  • Removing the Word document, or replacing it with an accessible web page
  • Adding a transcript for the home page video (adding an audio description may not be possible)
  • Reviewing and amending the colours on the Operation Makesafe page
  • Either replacing news thumbnails with images that do not include text, or making sure the text is present in the description with suitable supporting alt text. On the CSE Taskforce page, remove the image or replace it with accessible HTML content.

We plan to work through these issues by the end of December 2025.
